Robins men on the run

-

MARK ROBINS has told his Coventry City players they must out-run in-form Barnsley today to further ease their relegation fears.

The play-off chasing Tykes are renowned for their work on and off the ball under manager Valerien Ismael.

And coming less than 72 hours after earning a crucial win at fellow strugglers Rotherham, boss Robins knows just what is required against a side who have won their last six away games.

He said: “They’re a different type of side. They give you not a minute’s peace – you know they try to utilise the space behind you, they try to put pressure on you. They’ll try and they’ll run.

“They’ll be all over us, we’ve got to expect the press, probably the best press in the league, different than anything else.

“And if you can beat the first press then you’ve got a chance to get at their back-four, back-three, playing three with two good wing-backs.

“So, we need to really study them. To earn any point, you know you have to work hard to get it going into the game against Barnsley.”

Robins is ready to rotate his side to avoid possible burnout, given the backlog of fixtures.

“We have to look at how we recover and availability of players,” he added.

“We have to stand up and be counted again against a team that are tough to play against.”
