Carlisle Utd 0 Port Vale 0 Morecambe 4 Oldham 3
DARRELL CLARKE was disappointed his Port Vale side could not equal a long-standing club record at Carlisle.
Vale were bidding to secure a seventh successive win for the first time in 128 years, with Clarke saying: “I would have liked to have got the 1893 record. We built that up before the game, but Carlisle are no mugs.”
The Cumbrians remain outside the play-off positions, but manager Chris Beech (right) is upbeat. “We are still in with a chance,” he said. “I’m pleased we kept a clean sheet, but disappointed we could not win.”
DEREK ADAMS hailed his Morecambe side’s performance following the sevengoal thriller with Oldham.
Carlos Mendes-Gomes scored twice, the first giving Morecambe the lead, before Conor McAleny replied.
Aaron Wildig, Cole Stockton and Mendes-Gomes put Morecambe in charge, before efforts from Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Kyle Jameson ensured a nervy end.
Adams said: “It was a fantastic performance and the scoreline should have been wider from our point of view.”
