UCHE IKPEAZU struck a wonder goal as battling Wycombe ensured their relegation battle went to the final day.

The Chairboys now only need to win something like 13-0 at Middlesbrough – and hope other results go their way!

Ikpeazu (above) hit a 20-yarder four minutes in to stun the Championship keeper-of-the-year Asmir Begovic.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “There’s only good news for me. This club has 40 points, there’s no R next to our name at any point during our Championship season.

“It will take until the last whistle of the final day for Wycombe Wanderers to be relegated if it happens. I could not be prouder of that stat.

“I bet we were favourites to be first to be relegated and we’ve defied the odds again.”

Bournemouth rested six players with the play-offs in mind.

Ikpeazu cut in and unleashed a brilliant effort early on.

Bournemouth were subdued in the first half but Sam Surridge was denied on the line by Jack Grimmer.

Chris Mepham and Junior Stanislas, who limped off with a minor hamstring problem, missed simple headers after the break.

It took a sensational intervention by Anthony Stewart to deflect David Brooks’ effort onto the bar, after he had rounded keeper David Stockdale.

Bournemouth boss Jonathan Woodgate said: “It was off his hand – it was an open goal – but that happens.

“We still have momentum. We did not want to risk players.

“I know my team for the play-offs now. But I’ll keep my players guessing.”
