Celebs have nice lives ...they should behave

Denise blasts rule-breaking stars

- Exclusive BY sarah robertson sarah.robertson@reachplc.com

DENISE van Outen says she has found it frustrating to see “irresponsible” celebs breaking Covid rules.

The star, who says she has kept strictly to guidelines to protect others, said: “That’s why you get paid well and get to have a nice time – because you also have a responsibility to be a role model to others.”

She did not specifically name any celebs, but those in hot water have included her Masked Singer co-star Rita Ora – who apologised after throwing a birthday bash during lockdown last year.

Others accused of breaches include Love Islander Zara Holland and Sky News host Kay Burley.

Denise said: “I just kept thinking we’ve all made a lot of sacrifices you know, so I find it quite irresponsible.

“If you’re in media, it comes with a certain responsibility – you can’t have it all nice.

“We don’t always get it right, I’ve made mistakes myself in the past – but if things are done intentionally because you think you’re above the law, that’s not acceptable.”

Denise, 46, added: “I’ve been so strict. I’ve only just seen my parents now they’ve had two vaccines.

“They came into the garden with us to have an afternoon tea and that’s the longest I’ve been with them in a year.

“You do it for the love of family and friends, and people you live around.” ■■Denise will star in cabaret All stars at Proud embankment, london, from May 28. proudcabaret.com
