WhatsApp losing trust, says study
AROUND a fifth of WhatsApp users could quit the messaging service over data privacy fears, a rival platform has said.
WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, is bringing in new terms and conditions for the privacy of messages between individuals and businesses.
Bosses insist the changes do not affect regular accounts. But bad publicity around the move has sparked distrust, and a poll of 2,000 people by YEO Messaging found 8% had ditched WhatsApp and another 11% planned to.
A deadline to accept
new terms by yesterday or lose functions has now been scrapped by the firm.
Respondents said they were leaving amid mistrust about how data is used.
The poll also found 49% of people avoid sending dertails by social media or messaging platforms due to privacy fears.
