Man Utd want trends expert
MANCHESTER United’s next big signing will be a LIFESTYLE expert.
The club, once mocked by excaptain Roy Keane for its prawn sandwich corporate nosh, is keen to develop its mighty brand yet further.
Bosses want a lifestyle editor with “experience in fashion, lifestyle and/ or sports and apparel industry”.
The successful applicant must be “confident in understanding and interested in consumer trends and the hottest new products”.
But one fan of the side, beaten
4-2 at home by arch-rivals Liverpool on Thursday, groaned: “This is all we need.
“If we’re hiring I’d start off with some new midfielders.”
The job ad on the
SWIPE Ex-skipper Roy club’s site also boasts: “Man United is one of the most successful and popular sports clubs in the world.
“The Media Group within MUFC is responsible for engaging its global fan base via social media platforms.
“We are looking for a creative social media editor, who has a passion for lifestyle and fashion, coupled with an interest in football, to bring to life our products in a new and unique way.”
Amid a flurry of buzzwords, it goes on: “You will manage our dedicated lifestyle social media channels, as well as upkeep a lifestyle vlog based around merchandise and product ranges, creating content that helps drive E-commerce revenue, work with influencers to help amplify our content and products.”
The plans come after fans revolted over the club’s future and called for US owners the Glazer family to go.
Man Utd have often alarmed fans by monetising the club’s popularity.
A list of corporate tie-ups includes a tyre partner, wine partner and a Norwegian financial services partner.
Ex-skipper Keane, 49, famously coined the term “prawn sandwich brigade” when he said parts of the crowd were too quiet on match days.
