For insect bites

-

Hot summer weather means the arrival of biting insects.

“Use a repellent that contains at least 20 per cent DEET,” says Boots pharmacist Janky Raja.

Avoid strong scented perfumes or lotions as they can attract bugs. And if you are using lotion, choose one with coconut oil as research suggests the fatty acids and compounds in it repel biting flies and mosquitoes for up to two weeks.

Janky says: “If you do get bitten or stung, remove the sting if it’s still in the skin. As a general rule, when treating a bug bite or sting keep them clean by washing with warm water. Avoid scratching as this could break the skin.”
