Brown’s final shot for Celtic

SCOTT BROWN delivered a parting shot to Rangers after declaring only Celtic are “proper” Invincibles.

The Parkhead skipper,

35, bowed out after a trophy-laden 14 years with a low-key goalless draw at Hibs yesterday.

In contrast, champions Rangers completed an unbeaten Premiership season 25 points ahead of their city rivals.

Brown (below), heading to Aberdeen as a playercoach this summer, was part of the Celtic side which achieved an Invincible Treble in 2016/17.

And he said: “I would rather be in my situation than anybody else’s.

“We went proper Invincible throughout the whole season. We’ve done Treble after Treble after Treble and it’s not easy.”

As Brown, 35, bids farewell to the Hoops, a dismal season ended for the Glasgow side who continue to search for a new boss, with former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe still the frontrunner.

And Brown suspects the marathon pursuit of 10 titles in a row has finally caught up with Celtic. He added: “It does take a toll on everyone’s body. That’s what’s happened this year.

“We gave it everything we could but we’ve just not managed to get that 10.”

Interim boss John Kennedy, in charge since Neil Lennon resigned in February, said: “For me it almost feels like the end of an era. This year unfortunately it has not worked out as we would have wished.

“The club captain is leaving, there will be changes in management and at board level. There will be a number of players leaving, loan players or whatever it might be.

“It is almost like we draw a line now. You draw that line then it is time to rebuild and then you move on.”

Celtic dominated but could not a breakthrough against a makeshift Hibs, who now prepare for the Scottish Cup Final with St Johnstone.
