Dunny’s Hairdryer

-

ROY KEANE was at his scattergun best/worst after Manchester United’s hammering by Liverpool on Thursday – left, right and centre, they were getting it.

United will never win anything significant with Fred and Scott McTominay, it was ‘scary’ how far Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad was away from Manchester City, Dean Henderson is ‘tiny’. Ouch.

Harsh on all fronts, but Keane (above) was spot on when, reacting to the Sadio ManeJurgen Klopp stand-off, he poured scorn on managers charging on to the field of play to hug and high-five players.

“Only if you have won the Premier League,” snorted Keane, “and even then, I’d be doubtful.”

Quite right. The cult of the manager has gone too far.

What happened to a handshake with the opposing bench, a brisk walk to the dressing room and then a glass of wine with your opposite number?

Klopp is not the only one with an insatiable appetite for crossing the white line, but he has even done it DURING a game.

A good manager is worth his weight in gold, but he should not be the centre of attention when the game has barely ended.
