SCHICK TIPPED T0 RAISE THE BAR-OS

- BY SIMON BIRD

PATRIK SCHICK has been backed to become a Euros legend and down England on Tuesday night.

The Czech star (left) is a surprise early tournament hit after his wonder-goal from almost 50 yards against Scotland and three-goal tally in two games.

And his boss Jaroslav Silhavy says he can emulate Liverpool and Czech old boy

Milan Baros and become top scorer. Silhavy said: “Patrik is a great striker and goalscorer, and he has confirmed that here.

“I believe he will score many more goals at the Euros.

”Milan Baros was a great striker too. He won the Golden Boot in the 2004 Euros at Portugal and I wish the same now for Patrik.”

Schick, 25, has been shunted around Europe as he looks to fulfil his teenage promise. He left Sparta

Prague at 18 and landed at Sampdoria, before moving to Roma.

But playing out of position on the right, he scored just a handful of goals behind Edin Dzeko.

The lithe 6ft 2in hitman is better as a centre-forward.

He proved that on loan at

Leipzig and found a home at Bayer Leverkusen, impressing last season with 11 goals.

Schick is an old-fashioned No.9 with presence and good movement – in the mould of Patrick Bamford at Leeds.

And if the Czechs decide to have a go at Wembley, rather than stifle, he will be a threat.

The West Ham duo of midfielder Tomas Soucek – who threatens from set-pieces and can lay claim to seven goals in 35 caps – and fullback Vladimir Coufal, who gets forward and provides crosses, have pivotal roles.
