Celebs’ No1 party guru plans 40th Mega bash

Oprah pal to arrange Markle do

MEGHAN Markle is using Oprah Winfrey’s party planner for her 40th birthday bash this week.

The Duchess of Sussex wants Colin Cowie to organise celebrations at her and Prince Harry’s £11million mansion in Santa Barbara, California.

Cowie has planned parties for stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian.

Harry, 36, has ordered a cake from local baker Posies & Sugar, while on the day guests will enjoy “grazing tables” with locally sourced foods and wines from neighbouring vineyards.

It is expected to be a low-key bash compared to her baby shower in 2019.

EQUATION

A source said: “Megan wants a small gathering. About 65 people are invited, her closest friends and family. Colin was recommended to her by Oprah who always puts on fabulous parties.”

Cowie’s mantra is: “The equation for the gold standard of service isn’t 1+1=2. It’s 1+1=3. What can you do to stay ahead of the curve?”

In 2018 he was voted Vogue’s No1 wedding planner and caterer in the north-east United States.

Meghan turns 40 on Wednesday. Before Archie was born in May 2019, she flew out to New York to celebrate with friends at lavish hotel The Mark in Manhattan, which apparently didn’t go down well with royal aides. This week’s bash will not break Covid rules, with California open.

Despite quitting as senior royals to pursue a “more peaceful life” in the US, the couple have kept a public profile, including a bombshell TV interview with Oprah in March.
