Spice World

-

It’s been 25 years since the release of the Spice Girls’ iconic debut single Wannabe. An empowering anthem about female friendship, it soared to the top of the charts and made global superstars of Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham.

The band went on to sell 90 million records worldwide, and at the height of their success in 1997, they starred in their very own movie, Spice World.

The story sees Ginger, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Posh playing themselves as they prepare for the biggest live concert of their careers at the Royal Albert Hall, as they are pursued by the media.

In a race against time to reach the venue, Victoria takes the wheel of their double decker tour bus, emblazoned with the Union Jack, and speeds around London, past many famous landmarks.

Since its movie stardom, the legendary bus has travelled around the UK as part of the Spice Up exhibition of Spice Girls memorabilia and was also parked outside Wembley Park when the band embarked on its 2019 reunion tour. Its current home is on the Isle of Wight, where it is available for private overnight stays.

While the red, white and blue paint remains on the exterior of the bus, inside it has been refurbished by a team of designers who have spiced up the décor with 90s-inspired features.

There are pink Union Jack cinema chairs, a ‘Girl Power’ neon light installation, as well as animal print and disco balls. There’s also a kitchenette and a spacious seating area at the back of the bus with an old-school CD player – a perfect addition to play Wannabe on repeat.

Located on the Island Harbour Marina on the River Medina, two miles from Newport town centre, which has an onsite bar, restaurant and shop nearby, the vehicle sleeps three, with private bathroom facilities outside.

So Stop Right Now, if a stay on board the Spice bus is what you “really, really want” as prices start from £78pppn, based on three sharing.
