Sky’s the limit for GB heroes
TEAM GB’s new Olympic superstars are set to strike it rich after Tokyo with a host of lucrative sponsorship deals.
Big brands will be falling over themselves to sign up our newest medal winners
– including 13-year-old skateboarder Sky Brown.
And household names
Dina Asher-Smith, Adam
Peaty and Tom Daley will be cashing in too.
Sports marketing consultant Nigel Currie said: “Some of our brilliant new faces are going to do extremely well – there are huge opportunities on the horizon. And some of our established stars could double their fortunes.”
Sky, our youngest ever summer Olympian, scored bronze in the women’s park skateboarding event.
The youngster – who has a million followers on
Instagram and a devoted
YouTube fan base – is already worth an estimated £3.5million.
Sprinter Dina took bronze in the 4x100m relay event. The 25-yearold’s accounts to June
2020 revealed assets of
£1.34m – up from
£573,000 in 2019.
And the 200m World
Champion – who missed the individual 100m final through injury – is likely to add plenty more to that.
The likes of 800m race ace Keely Hodgkinson, 19, who smashed Dame Kelly Holmes’ British record, and BMX golden girl Charlotte Worthington, 25, will also be quids-in.
Nigel added: “For the likes of Sky and Charlotte the deals coming their way could potentially be huge.
“Their sports are different and original, and they themselves are very young and will appeal hugely to the youth market. Brands will be clamouring to get them on board.”
The new stars could learn from several stars who have earnt big after Olympic glory.
Leading the way is triathlete Jonny Brownlee, 31, who has £4.5m in the bank. The Yorkshireman who won gold in the mixed relay is in demand from food and clothing firms, as well as receiving cash for appearing in races. Diving ace Tom, 27, is worth £4million. He rakes in cash from media appearances and can earn £5,000 a post on Instagram, where he has 2.4million followers.
Swimmer Adam, 26, has banked around £2m, with millions more likely to come his way after his two golds and a silver in Tokyo.
Cycling stars Laura Kenny, 29, and husband Jason, 33 – our most successful-ever Olympians, are worth a combined £4m. And they are on track to make millions more after yet more velodrome glory.
