‘We’ve got much Mor for Blues’

- By TOM HOPKINSON

GERARD MORENO isn’t fazed by the fact Chelsea are widely tipped to beat Villarreal in Wednesday’s Super Cup clash.

Because, as the striker points out, the Spanish side were underdogs in their Europa League final with Manchester United in May and look what happened.

Moreno (below) said: “Chelsea are the favourites? Manchester United were the favourites in Gdansk and now the title is in our home.

“I expect a complicated match against Chelsea and a hard match because the

Blues have a big team with tremendous international experience.

“I have watched the news of Chelsea this summer and they are a super-team.

“Kepa

Arrizabalaga, Cesar Azpilicueta, N’Golo

Kante, Timo

Werner… They are one of the best squads in Europe and, if Lukaku finally arrives, their forward line is sensational.

“But, in 90 minutes, anything is possible and the challenge for our squad is to win in Belfast.

“The Super Cup is the final of our life for Villarreal — to win the Europa League was incredible but to win the

Super Cup is another dream.”

Moreno expects his battle with Chelsea’s back four or five, depending on Thomas Tuchel’s system, to be key to the outcome of the game.

He added: “The defensive line is very important for Chelsea, key to the match.

“We need to open their line and then find success in those areas.”

Moreno was part of Spain’s squad at Euro 2020, and he is pinching himself about the success he has enjoyed in recent months.

He said: “I am living a big moment.”
