Snub to spur trio
TOTTENHAM legend Ledley King hopes forgotten England men Dele
Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Winks will use their Euros pain as fuel for their club this season.
The trio have all played for the
Three Lions within the last 26 months, and Dier and Winks as recently as November last year.
But they all had to look on from their summer holidays as their wantaway club-mate Harry Kane and the rest of Gareth Southgate’s Three
Lions squad reached the Euros final.
King said: “Dele didn’t play much last season and being at home watching the Euros, having been part of that group before, along with Harry Winks and Eric Dier, these guys will be coming back determined to show what they can do.
“It could work well for Spurs. It will have hurt them watching the Euros and hopefully that will play into them having great seasons.”
Alli’s social media feeds have been dripping with pictures of him working hard over the summer.
King (right) added: “Dele has obviously gone away over the off-season and come back with the intention to really stamp down his authority on the season.
“He has come back with a real determination to get his career back up to the levels we saw a few years ago, so he will be like a new player.”
King was impressed with Southgate’s Euros squad.
After surprising a group of five to 11-year-olds taking part in the free McDonald’s Fun Football Festival, King added: “The Euros have been huge – they have galvanised the country again in what has been a difficult period.
“I remember watching my first
World Cup in 1990 and how that had an impact on me.
“No doubt the Euros will have done that for a lot of people.”
