Klopp’s new Anfield of vision

Trademark glasses on bench as Liverpool boss eyes up title bid

- EXCLUSIVE BY PHIL CARDY

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp’s sights are even more firmly set on regaining the Premier League title after treatment on his eyes.

It means his trademark Match of the Day glasses will be getting a break following the procedure during the close season.

Anfield fans first noticed the gaffer was missing his distinctive specs on the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria.

A source said: “He’s had a bit of treatment on his eyes which went really well. It means he doesn’t need to wear his glasses all the time. But he still may wear them occasionally in the dugout.”

Some superstitious fans online were been taken aback by the training camp images of their idol.

One said “I’m not sure I like this.” And another referred to the Reds’ change of fortunes after former boss Rafa Benitez changed his image in 2008. “I hope it’s not like when Rafa grew his goatee. Things were never the same after that.”

Klopp, 54, has happily spoken about previous treatment he has received, including on his teeth.

At the time he joked he wanted them to be as nice as the team’s Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino’s dazzling choppers.

The German boss said: “I went to the dentist because I had some problems so really it was like you have to come in or it will get worse.

“So I had to have antibiotics and medicine and I said ‘could we do something new like crowns’, and they said, ‘yeah, of course we can’.

“It was not as if I saw Bobby Firmino’s teeth and said ‘I want them’ – but I like them though. Firmino has world class teeth.”

Klopp has also admitted having work on his receding hairline back in 2013, saying: “Yes, it’s true. I had a hair transplant. And I think the results are really cool, don’t you?”
