‘A strong and lovely family’
THE youngest of the five victims was a “very cute little girl” who went to fitness sessions with her mum, a friend said yesterday.
Sophie Martyn, three, was pushing a toy pram with dad Lee, 43, when they were shot dead.
Family friend Dan Sobey, who runs a fitness business, said her mum Becky took her to his class when she was six months old.
Dan, 40, told the Sunday Mirror: “Lee made the ultimate sacrifice. It brings a lump to my throat talking about it. You can see from photos how much of a strong, lovely family they were.”
He said NHS nurse Becky, 42, “used to speak about how happy Sophie made her”, adding: “She was a very cute little girl, with floppy red hair”.
Davison had earlier shot dead his mum Maxine, 51, described by a friend as “a wonderful woman who never gave up”.
Also known as Maxine Chapman, she was reportedly recovering from cancer.
A family pal said: “She never had a bad word to say about anyone and would always try to help you out if you needed it.”
Davison also gunned down passer-by Stephen Washington, 59, who was walking his two huskies, then Kate Shepherd, 66, outside a salon.
Mr Washington’s widow has “lost her world”, son Simon said. Home Secretary Priti Patel yesterday placed a floral tribute in a park near the scene of massacre. Michelle Parsonage and son Ben – also shot by Davison – are expected to make a full recovery.
