WATER VOLES

-

Ratty from The Wind In The Willows needs our help… Once common across Britain, they face extinction due to habitat loss and the arrival of invasive mink. They love to live in vegetation on river banks, increasingly stripped back by farmers using more land. HELP THEM: Encourage your local council to keep river banks “messier”.

SEE THEM: Best in spring when vegetation is shorter. Try Rutland Water – also a breeding ground for many rare birds, including osprey.
