RAM NOW GUNNING FOR DEAL

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

SHEFFIELD UNITED keeper Aaron Ramsdale is considering handing in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners want competition for current No.1 Bernd Leno and Ramsdale (above) is their top target.

But the Blades have already rejected multiple bids from the north London club and, with Arsenal refusing to meet their £30million asking price, the proposed transfer is on the brink of collapsing.

Ramsdale is desperate for the two clubs to reach an agreement to allow him to make the move back to the Premier League. The 23-year-old, who was part of Gareth Southgate’s

Euros squad in the summer, fears Arsenal will move on to other targets and that Sheffield United’s reluctance to agree a fee will kill off his hopes of returning to the top flight.

Speaking on Friday, prior to their Championship clash with Swansea last night, Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic said: “I don’t have any intention to sell him. He’ll be in my starting XI for the next game.

“Aaron is a very good keeper and I am really happy working with him.

“He’s a really expensive keeper, too.”
