£550 charge for drivers to park at work
DRIVERS face being charged hundreds of pounds to park at work.
Town halls are planning workplace parking levies of up to £550 a year.
The AA says firms are already paying for private car parks through their business rates. It fears the levy will now be passed on to drivers.
Nottingham already charges £428 for spaces. Similar plans are being considered in Oxford, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
In Leicester, fees will be charged at £550 per space.
AA spokesman Luke Bosdet said: “The levy is an opportunistic local tax that targets workers disproportionately to pay for transport improvements enjoyed by many more who don’t have to contribute to it.”
