Watching Ulrika Jonsson on Celebs Go Dating made me think about another friend who is looking for love

online. She’s been single for over a year, has two teenage daughters and is losing the will to live.

She regularly phones me up, exasperated, with comments like, “Why are so many men missing basic manners? Why do they resort to mind games and leave you hanging?”

After another recent date, she said: “I’ve come to the conclusion that some men just don’t know how to communicate with confident women. I do understand the predicament they’re in – if they pay you a compliment, is that sexism? Should they call you, or should you call them?”

It’s very simple, guys – if you’d like to see your date again, just send a message a few hours later to thank the person for making the effort and have a call to action, i.e. “Would be lovely to do it again if you’re up for it?” Now that’s not so hard is it? Polite, gentlemanly and it shows your confidence.
