SECOND CHANCE FOR SALE

-

Sale v Ospreys Today, 1pm, BT Sport ALEX SANDERSON’S Sale are hunting down a last-16 Champions Cup spot for the second time in two years today — but the boss reckons they should be there already.

Sale had a near-miss away at Clermont last week, going down 25-19, but a win at home against Ospreys will seal their spot.

Sale beat Ospreys in Swansea, 21-13, in December’s first round and have had a Covid call-off, at home to Clermont, adding up to a shot at the play-offs.

Manu Tuilagi is still out, but Sharks have England scrum-half Raffi Quirke back after he missed the defeat in France.

However, Sanderson insists qualification should have been done and dusted by now.

He said: “We were missing six or seven of our front loaders last week, and even so we could have beaten them.”

Ben Curry replaces twin brother

Tom in the back row, with Tom on the bench the day before he heads to England training in Brighton. Bevan Rodd, another England man, starts at loose head with Scotland international hooker Ewan Ashman.

Ospreys have no chance of qualifying and are pointless after two defeats and one Covid call-off.

Wales lock Adam Beard skippers the visitors and hooker Dewi Lake, another Welsh Six Nations call-up, also starts.
