Dunny’s Hairdryer

FOR someone who was particularly reticent as a player, Gabriel Agbonlahor is making an unlikely second career as a pundit.

He has certainly got some strong views to put across on talkSPORT.

A few days ago, he spoke about Paul Pogba, who has returned to training with Manchester United.

“If I am Paul Pogba, I’d want to get away from the English media,” said Agbonlahor (above).

Gabby’s Twitter profile invites people to contact his agent “for all media and appearance enquiries”.

Would that be the same English media that Agbonlahor is imploring for Pogba to get away from? “I’d want to go to another country where the media is not so harsh.”

Let’s assume that Agbonlahor is getting a little mixed up and is not counting his own radio station as part of the “English media”.

Let’s assume he is actually referring to English newspapers. And if that is the case, two things.

Firstly, Gabby will find papers in, for example, Spain and Italy can be just as critical as those here.

Secondly, the papers Gabby wants Pogba to get away from are those that provide the news for him to talk about on his radio station.

The newspapers may be “harsh” … but, without them, there would be little for unlikely pundits to talk about.
