Pals’ ultimate £400k wedding gift
BROOKLYN Beckham could be shooting for the stars on his honeymoon if his pals buy him a space flight as a gift.
Photo-mad Brooklyn, 22, and his 27-year-old fiancée Nicola Peltz are due to wed in April – and friends reckon the £400,000 Virgin Galactic trip would be the perfect present.
A source said: “Brooklyn’s marrying in to a well-connected family.
“Between his family and Nicola’s, it’s easy to get them on Richard Branson’s first VIP space flight. The cost would be a drop in the ocean.”
Nicola’s billionaire father Nelson, 79, is thought to have “easy access” to entrepreneur Sir Richard.
And while Brooklyn’s dad David is said to have turned down the chance to join the voyage as he was too nervous, the source said Brooklyn has a “more adventurous spirit”.
The insider added it would also be a chance for Brooklyn to indulge his love of photography – and even be sponsored to take snaps on board.
The source explained: “Their rich friends are talking about forming a club to fund the gift. They think presenting it will be one of the high points of the wedding day.”
Brooklyn’s pals hope to “offset” the cost with big-brand deals and are said to have discussed approaching camera brands such as Kodak to kit the couple out. The source added: “A lot of people will be vying for the title of ‘most impressive gift’ at this wedding. The group talking about this know a ticket to space is sure to impress even billionaire guests and the Beckhams and Peltzes, who don’t really need anything.”
Virgin Galactic aims to start commercial flights to space later this year, carrying six passengers at a time. It hopes to be able to offer three trips a week from 2023.
The firm is thought to have so far sold around 650 tickets, with 10,000 people registering an interest.
Tom Hanks, Justin Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio are thought to be among the celebs who have already booked trips.
Sir Richard, 71, rocketed to the edge of space, 53 miles above Earth, in his Unity ship last summer.
Brooklyn’s wedding is due to be held on the £76million Florida estate owned by Nicola’s dad.
His godfather, Sir Elton John, will not be among the guests
as he will be on tour.
