An ooh and an ahh... I do love VAR

Football fans complain about VAR decisions, but we should learn to enjoy them. I was at a game on Sunday in which the referee went to the side of the pitch to watch some film, then gave a penalty against a goalkeeper for catching the ball.

We assumed the referee was watching replays of the incident, but now I think he was watching The Apprentice on iPlayer, as he’d missed the latest episode.

So I’m looking forward to more jolly decisions.

Next week a Burnley player will be given out LBW and Southampton will be disqualified for dropping the baton.
