Janet: My pain over Jacko jibes
Being Michael Jackson’s sister must be tough – and this week, Janet Jackson told for the first time how her superstar brother fat-shamed her as a youngster, leaving her with painful body image issues.
The Rhythm Nation singer said: “There were times when Mike used to tease me and call me names… pig, horse, slut or hog, cow.
“He would laugh about it and I’d laugh too, but then there was somewhere down inside that it would hurt.
“When you have somebody say you’re too heavy, it affects you.”
Janet makes the emotional revelation in a shocking self-titled fourparter due to air on Sky Documentaries and Now TV from Monday.
The singer, who looks sensational in my exclusive snap, spent five years making the documentary series.
In it, she reveals how she has struggled with her weight since the age of 10, when she won the role of abandoned girl
Penny on the US sitcom Good Times.
Director Ben Hirsch tells me: “The one thing I have learned about her is that she doesn’t shy away from hard work.
“Working with Janet, you’d expect that there would be a huge entourage around her and you wouldn’t be able to get access to her.
“But I think the thing people maybe don’t know about her is that she’s in control.
“She’s meticulous in everything she does, and she doesn’t shy away from hard work and that’s been my experience in working with her.” Very cool.
