WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT... premature ejaculation

-

Premature ejaculation is the most common ejaculation problem, according to Dr Gigi Taguri.

Dr Taguri, the director of medical technology at Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor, says: “In July alone we prescribed over 2,400 premature ejaculation treatments, making it one of our biggest areas. The causes can be varied, and can be both physical and psychological, but there are a wide number of options for treating and managing the condition.”

It may be that a medical opinion is required as physical causes can include potentially major issues such as the narrowing of blood vessels, hormonal imbalances and nerve problems. Meanwhile, psychological causes include anxiety about sexual performance, depression and stress.

“Lifestyle factors also impact sexual performance, such as smoking, drinking, drug use, being inactive and being overweight,” Dr Taguri adds.

Treatments range from therapy, to antidepressants and sildenafil, known as Viagra. If concerned, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
