Switching off from work

-

A third of workers say they struggle to switch off from their jobs.

“If you have emails or messages coming to your phone, switch them off in the evening so that you aren’t distracted or thinking about work,” says psychology professor Sir Cary Cooper of Delamere (delamere.com). “Having the temptation to look at work emails all the time can make you feel tired because you didn’t fully disconnect.”

Keep an eye out for colleagues, too.

“Acting withdrawn, looking physically exhausted, overusing substances like alcohol or drugs or using work as a form of escape are all telltale signs,” says Prof Cooper.
