EPL STARS HIT BACK

- BY JOHN RICHARDSON

WORRIED Premier League clubs are hiring ‘muscle’ from specialist security-protection companies in a bid to safeguard their stars, following an alarming increase in burglaries.

Victor Lindelof (below) is the latest big-name victim after intruders broke into his Cheshire home while he was away playing at Brentford – forcing his frightened wife and two children to lock themselves in a room.

A representative of a security organisation now helping keep a leading north-west Premier League club’s players safe, revealed: “As organised gangs have become involved, more and more players have looked at stepping up their security.

“Clubs have stepped in too – accepting that it’s a price they have to pay to enable their players to have peace of mind and concentrate on games instead of being worried about the safety of their families.

“Too often it’s been proved that locked gates, doors and cameras don’t put off these well-drilled gangs. A physical presence hopefully does.”
