ROO: GROW UP AND GET US SORTED

- BY NEIL MOXLEY

WAYNE ROONEY has issued a rallying cry – asking for those blocking Derby County’s sale to: “Grow up and get it sorted.”

The Rams remain in the clutches of the administrators after being given another month’s extension to find a way out of their survival fight.

A number of issues are also outstanding with claims by HMRC and fellow English Football League clubs Middlesbrough and Wycombe Wanderers still to be resolved.

Rooney turned down the chance to speak to boyhood club Everton this week as the Toffees tried to entice him back to Goodison Park as Rafa Benitez’s replacement.

He has battled gamely to keep the Rams from falling into the mire – despite their 21-point deduction for a series of financial transgressions.

And he says to plan Derby’s future, he needs to press ahead – now.

“The club’s future needs resolving as soon as possible. I need assurances, the players need assurances,” he said.

“Hopefully, we will get through this, but I have the majority of the squad out of contract in the summer and we need to plan.

“I need those assurances, as do the players. The fans need it. The staff need it.

“With the administrators, the EFL and Middlesbrough and Wycombe who all feel like they have a claim – come on, grow up, let’s just all get it sorted.”
