So Kein to succeed
STEVE COOPER says Keinan Davis can be “whatever he wants” after the Nottingham Forest loanee broke his duck for the club.
The striker (right), who will be at the City Ground until the end of the season after a temporary switch from Aston Villa, was chased by a host of Championship rivals.
While he has undoubted potential – the forward was handed a long-term deal by Villa two seasons ago – his experience has been mainly limited to appearances from the substitutes’ bench. Davis only netted six times in five years but did so for Forest against Barnsley in midweek as Cooper’s men continued their upwards push.
Asked about the striker’s goals return, Forest boss Cooper said: “It’s only really fair to look at Keinan after he’s had a few starts.
“He’s played four consecutive games for us – and he can’t remember the last time he did that. This is why the loan is so important to him.
“I had a good conversation with Steven Gerrard about how we all wanted it to work. Keinan’s come here to play games, to feel a three-game week – like this one – and these are new experiences for him.
“Because of that, I don’t think it’s right to say, ‘He’s this or he’s that.’
“All I know is that he had a lot of offers, particularly in the Championship.
“We’re very happy that he chose us – he’s had a good start to his Nottingham Forest career.
“He’s going to have opportunities to become whatever he wants because he has the ingredients.”
