MATT TAYLOR felt his Exeter side lacked quality.

Hartlepool captain Nicky Featherstone was sent off after the half-time break.

Taylor said: “We didn’t have enough quality in our game. I’m disappointed and people will see it as a step back, but we are moving in the right direction.”

Hartlepool manager Graeme Lee said: “They handled the pressure fantastically well. We were just lacking in that final third. The lads put a shift in. We dominated the game in the first half and created good opportunities.”
