Rishi gives... & then takes

-

Energy prices are going up and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it apart from pray for good weather so that we don’t need the heating on so high.

Regulator Ofgem has confirmed that millions of households will see their bills hiked by almost £700 from this April.

Consumer champion Martin Lewis has worked out that the increase is around 54%.

On top of this, we’re subjected to an increase in interest rates, rising inflation and goodness knows what else.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced some support to help alleviate the pain by giving each household a £200 discount on their energy bills. In addition, households in council tax bands A to D will get a £150 council tax rebate in April.

However, the £200 energy discount will have to be repaid over five years.

It’s typical of this government – giving £350 with one hand, then taking back £200 with the other.
