Train GPs to help women

-

I’m going through the menopause and I’m on HRT.

But I certainly don’t think women should be handed the drug over the counter.

What is needed is more GPs to be informed about the menopause, and show willingness to prescribe HRT to

women with symptoms instead of dismissing them with a diagnosis of depression or anxiety.

Shockingly, Anne Henderson, a menopause specialist consultant gynaecologist, points out that there is currently “no mandatory menopause training for doctors”. It is essential that this is changed urgently so that women can be properly advised on the type of HRT to take and the dosage.

I don’t want women going to a chemist for HRT because they’ve seen a celebrity use that particular brand.
