‘David Moyes told me they didn’t deserve it’
were really excellent today. Huge congratulations to them.
“We just weren’t at the races in the first half. Luckily enough, we got one back at the end of the second.”
Harriers’ boss Russell Penn (right) was left eyeing the clock in agony as it counted down, not once but twice – first at the end of 90 minutes and then again at the end of extra-time. He said: “For them to score so late twice was heartbreaking. I didn’t think we’d got over the line in normal time - I thought there was one more chance in the game - and
West Ham took it.
“Then I thought we’d get blown away in extra-time, but that didn’t happen, either.
“So I asked the fourth official how long was left in extra-time and he said, ‘Thirty seconds’.
“The manner of their goal was scrappy but they were piling on the pressure.
“It was just an honour for me to manage across from David Moyes. He said some lovely things at the final whistle. “What were they? ‘Well done, we didn’t deserve it’.”
