Fan trouble stops games
BOLTON’S clash at Morecambe in League One was stopped for 10 minutes after a “barrage of abuse” from the stands yesterday.
Referee Ross Joyce took players off the pitch on 88 minutes of the 1-1 draw and Morecambe said they would investigate, with Wanderers boss Ian Evatt saying: “The barrage of abuse was astonishing.”
And at Rotherham, a pitch invader, following the award of Accrington’s late penalty, ran on to kick the ball off the spot and seemed to make contact with Stanley’s Harry Pell.
Pell would miss the penalty and Stanley boss John Coleman said: “I expected it to be abandoned.”
Rotherham said they have permanently banned two fans.
