Josh Bowls ’em over
FLYING winger Josh Bowler hit a classy strike for Blackpool – and showed why top Championship clubs want him.
The 22-year-old scored at leaders Fulham last week and was a deadline-day target for the Cottagers, Nottingham Forest and
Bournemouth. But Bowler stayed to play his part in a 3-1 win over Nigel Pearson’s strugglers.
CJ Hamilton opened the scoring with a close-range left-foot shot and Kenny Dougall’s cross was headed in by Gary Madine.
Two minutes after the break a long ball was controlled by Bowler, who beat keeper
Max O’Leary hands down. Nahki Wells scored a late close-range consolation for the Robins. Blackpool boss Neil Critchley said: “That’s probably as comfortable as you can get. Two goals in double-quick time, and then Josh Bowler tucked it away so brilliantly straight after half-time.”
Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson said: “We’re just not keeping clean sheets and we are definitely not showing enough tenacity in defence.
“The three goals we conceded were really poor from our perspective.”
