Van wants the basics

Scottish Round-Up

RANGERS boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has told his side to get back to basics against HEARTS today.

The champions have lost seven points from their last four Premiership games and are still recovering from their 3-0 battering by rivals CELTIC.

Ange Postecoglou’s Hoops leapfrogged Gers to the top – but boss Van Bronckhorst (above) is adamant he will stick to his way of playing while looking for a return to form.

He said: “I believe in the system but we need to make sure we keep doing the things we always did and those are the basic things. To track back, to make sure you mark your man, to get the aggression, the moments we can go forward you have to.

“I’m sure if we have those things back, or do much better than we did in the last couple of games we will be fine.”

Celtic can open up a four-point gap before Rangers kick-off if they beat MOTHERWELL.

Postecoglou expects his players to adopt a typically consistent approach.

The Aussie said: “We haven’t got here because of one performance or one set of conditions.

“We’ve had to battle since the beginning of the season. It will be tough.”
