Chain will be the pound of veggies land
POUNDLAND is set to offer fresh food in a bid to become a one-stop-shop for groceries.
The cut-price chain opened its biggest ever store in Nottingham yesterday which is due to sell bread, fruit and veg.
“It’s a natural extension of what our customers are looking for,” said managing director Barry Williams.
Grocery sales soared in the pandemic but business hasn’t been easy for discounters.
The chain, which traditionally sold long-life food for around a £1, aims to become a full grocery shop to attract new customers.
Poundland has trialled fresh food, but this is the first time it will be stocked in a large branch.
The new store aims to feel like a full supermarket.
