Flags for Duke ditched
AN order for civil servants to fly flags to mark Prince Andrew’s birthday has been scrapped.
The decision, in consultation with Buckingham Palace, means government buildings will not be expected to raise the Union Flag when the Duke of York turns 62 on Saturday.
It has been quietly dropped
from the official list of dates when it is compulsory, such as the Queen’s birthday and Remembrance Sunday.
A Whitehall insider said: “Some people were uneasy about it.
“With the scandal around him still ongoing it was clear what needed to be done.” Buckingham
Palace declined to comment.
