Exercise is anti-ageing for your brain

-

Staying physically active can help our brains stay younger for longer, according to new research.

Elderly people who are physically active have more of a certain type of protein which helps us to think by connecting neurons in the brain – helping healthy cognition.

The study, by the University of

California in San Francisco, tracked activity levels of elderly people who agreed to donate their brains to the study when they died.

Even in autopsies which showed people had high levels of the toxic proteins associated with Alzheimer’s disease, there were also high levels of healthy proteins in those who exercised.
