HAWK: I CAN NAIL THIS
SNOOKER
BY SHANE MacDERMOTT BARRY HAWKINS is desperate to scratch a five-year itch in today’s Players Championship final in Wolverhampton.
The Hawk’s last ranking crown came at the 2017 World Grand Prix. And the world No.11 is determined to give a good account of himself after heavy defeats in his last two showpieces.
Hawkins was hammered 11-3 by Mark Selby in the 2018 China Open final and 10-4 by Neil Robertson at last month’s Masters.
“It would be amazing to win a trophy after so long,” he admitted. “But I’ve been in this position before so I don’t want to get too carried away. I just want to go out there and put in a good performance.”
