‘Buy lads from EFL’

- BY MATT BOZEAT

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs have been told: Go shopping in the EFL.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: “F***-all was spent by the Premier League in our league during the window.

“I think I read it was less than £2million. So much money went abroad. We need to change how much money leaves our shores and buys players from Portugal, Spain and Italy.

“I’m happy Liverpool spent 52million euros on player from a Portuguese. I’d say the Championship is as good as the Portuguese league and that player (Luis Diaz) scored 15 goals.

“I think some of the young Championship players that are under 23 are as good as players who come in from Spain, Italy or Portugal – and it doesn’t take them six months to settle in.”
