£33M SERG IS FOR REAL

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

TOTTENHAM star Sergio Reguilon is a target for former club Real Madrid as they plan for life without Marcelo.

The Brazilian is set to leave the Bernabeu after 15 years when his contract expires in June.

And Real are working on finding a new left-back to challenge Ferland Mendy for the position.

The Spanish giants are understood to have an option to re-sign Reguilon, which expires on May 30.

Doing so would cost £33.6million, which would represent yet more shrewd business from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy given the player cost only £27m when he joined in September 2020.

Reguilon, 25, arrived on a private jet with the returning Gareth Bale on a memorable day for supporters of the north London club.

Real are expected to make a call on whether or not to push forward with their interest in the Spain international later this month.

But Reguilon is currently the No.1 choice for the club’s technical staff, with positive scouting reports being posted by those watching him this season.

Tottenham are aware of Real’s interest in Reguilon, although the La Liga leaders are also looking at Rayo Vallecano’s Fran Garcia.
