An intense Andrea Riseborough keeps the tension bubbling over in this stylish lowbudget thriller set in Northern Ireland.

She plays grieving mother Laura who believes her dead daughter Josie has been reincarnated in the form of Megan (Niamh Dornan), the chatty 10-year-old who has just moved in next door.

As Laura sets out to investigate the child’s eerie knowledge of Josie’s life, a simmering conflict develops between her and Megan’s mum Marie

(Eileen O’Higgins).

Writer-director Stacey Gregg puts the tension on a slow burn. The jangling score and creeping cameras suggest a horror film, while Riseborough’s jittery performance suggests Laura could be having a nervous breakdown.

The final twist may prove divisive, but the sharp dialogue and clever plotting make for a compelling guessing game.
