This is such a sweet little herbaceous perennial that pops up at the beginning of the year, taking advantage of light levels below deciduous trees before they come into leaf in spring.

Yellow flowers surrounded by apple green bracts make this quite eye-catching and pretty. These are followed later by green rounded leaves. Plant in humus rich soil in sun or partial shade. Propagate by division in spring.
