TRINITY IN A CAT FIGHT
Wakefield 22
Catalans 24

WAKEFIELD TRINITY might have lost two from two but coach Willie Poching couldn’t be prouder of his team following a last-gasp two-point defeat at Catalans Dragons.
“We know what we are capable of and we were unlucky not to come out on top,” Poching said after this 24-22 loss in
Perpignan. “We face St Helens next week, and that’s the two Grand Finalists, but we’ve shown that we fear no-one.
“Teams like Catalans and St Helens make you work hard and to perform like we did tonight will give us great confidence.”
Catalans were keen to put on a show for supporters at their first home game of the season but nobody told Trinity, who battled from start to finish
Even when they were 24-10 down with only a few minutes to go, Trinity weren’t finished.
An enterprising break by Matt Jowitt on the left saw Tom Johnstone (left) sidestep over for his second try, then an audacious length-of-thepitch strike by winger Tom Lineham made it a twopoint game at the hooter.
