1,000 power cuts compo cash delayed

-

AS many as 1,000 Northern Powergrid customers still haven’t received compensation for lengthy power cuts caused by Storm Arwen three months ago.

Mel Watson, from Ponteland, Northumberland, said: “They were very slow to react then and they’re even slower now.”

She says she was without power for 11 days.

NPG has paid around 27,500 customers and sent top-up cheques to more than 2,000 sent the wrong amount in error.

It said some payments had taken longer “due to the scale and complexity of some of the power cuts”.
