Great effort from Yates
GREAT BRITAIN’S Adam Yates finished runner-up to two-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar on the UAE Tour.
Yates (below left), riding for Ineos Grenadiers, attacked Pogacar (right), of UAE Team Emirates, over the final five kilometres of the concluding seventh stage.
But the Slovenian held off Yates and had the final burst of speed over the 148km for a narrow stage victory to seal the overall honours by 22 seconds.
