Fury at brands which still trade with Russia

- BY STEPHEN HAYWARD

GLOBAL brands which haven’t joined the Russian trade boycott were facing a customer backlash last night.

Tesco has been blasted on social media for failing to follow other supermarkets in withdrawing Russianmade vodka from sale.

McDonald’s, which has more than 850 restaurants in Russia, also angered customers by failing to break off business links with Vladimir Putin’s ruthless regime.

Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have so far remained silent on whether they will sever links with Russia.

Tesco says it is following Government guidance and is making a £1million donation to the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

But one Twitter user said: “Won’t be shopping at Tesco again... hitting Russia hard with sanctions is all we got.” Fashion chain Zara and mobile phone giant Samsung yesterday became the latest firms to suspend trading in Russia, along with German sportswear maker Puma, which has 100 stores there, and posh brand Prada.
